Praying

The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective, James 5:16

There are many ways to get involved in what we’re doing in Serenje, but one of the most important is prayer. The people we have met in Serenje have incredible faith in God to answer their prayers. Here are some of the things they have asked us to pray for:

Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia

• Pray for the communities that EFZ are working in: Kashitu, Kankoso, Mwanasankano and Chilisha
• Pray for grace and wisdom for the Serenje Pastors Fellowship: Bishop Kasele, Pastor Ngosa, Pastor Musonda and Pastor Chizungo
• Pray for the HIV team, for God’s protection on their lives and families as they travel and God’s wisdom as they serve:
- Leah Mutala – Program Manager
- Mumba Chileshe-Chepa – Project Officer
- Rita Tembo – Project Secretary
• Pray for the Volunteer Network that God will grant them a spirit of servanthood and understanding in the midst of needy communities.

Children orphaned by AIDS

- For orphaned children and those who have become head of a household; that they will get love and support from their local churches and who will become their family
- For local churches supporting those living with HIV in their community;
- For elderly carers looking after families would not become overwhelmed but would be supported by their church.

Ending Stigma And Discrimination for those living with or affected by HIV

• Please pray for an end to the stigma of HIV and for people to be freed from fear.
• Pray for the work of Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia and others Tearfund partners, for wisdom as they train churches and leaders.
• For the UK church and us here at Kerith, that we will be a safe place of love and acceptance

Access to treatment

Please pray that there will be universal free access to treatment
• Please pray for those who have to walk for hours to get the treatment they need.

Going

In the summer of 2009 we sent a team of 8 people to Serenje for 2 weeks. We are planning to send another team in 2010 and details will be posted here shortly. The trip likely to be in the October half-term and will cost between £1500-£2000, depending on the cost of flights and what injections you will need.

If you are interested in going on this trip please speak to Zoe Hayes.
