Kerith in the Community

How can i be involved?

Serenje Blog

The best way to connect with what we’re doing in Serenje is to sign up to our blog.

Giving

If you’d like to be part of the Serenje Project by supporting financially, you can give money care of Kerith Community Church in any of the following ways:

One-off gifts
BY CASH, using a payment envelope available from The Kerith Centre.
BY CHEQUE, made payable to ‘Kerith Community Church’.

You can also give BY CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD or set up STANDING ORDER.

For either of these options please collect one of the Serenje booklets from the Kerith Centre, complete the details at the back and hand it in at reception.

Please mark all gifts for the ‘Serenje Project’ and send to The Kerith Centre, Church Road, Bracknell, RG12 1EH.

If you are a UK taxpayer, you can make your donation go a lot further by using Gift Aid.

Going

Every year we send a team from Kerith to Serenje. This is an opportunity to connect with what is happening at the project and to bless and encourage the amazing team at EFZ, the pastors and the volunteers in Serenje. The nature of the trip varies each year – some trips have focused on leadership training, this year’s May 2011 trip was a schools trip.

Details of future trips will be posted here, but if you are interested in going to Serenje please speak to Zoe Hayes or Alan Lander.

Praying

The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
James 5:16

There are many ways to get involved in what we’re doing in Serenje, but one of the most important is prayer. The people we have met in Serenje have incredible faith in God to answer their prayers. Here are some of the things they have asked us to pray for:

Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia

•    Pray  for the communities  that EFZ are working in: Kashitu, Kankoso, Mwanasankano and Chilisha
•    Pray for grace and wisdom for the Serenje Pastors Fellowship: Bishop Kasele, Pastor Ngosa, Pastor Musonda and Pastor Chizungo
•    Pray for the Project Field Officer Ian - for strength and wisdom.
•    Pray for the HIV team,  for God’s protection on their lives and families as they travel and God’s wisdom as they serve:
•    Leah Mutala – Program Manager

•    Pray for the amazing church and community volunteers. That God would encourage and strengthen them as they serve the communities.

Children orphaned by AIDS
    - For orphaned children and those who have become head of a household; that they will get love and support from their local churches and who will become their family
    - For local churches supporting those living with HIV in their community;
    - For elderly carers looking after families would not become overwhelmed but would be supported by their church.

Ending stigma and discrimination for those living with or affected by HIV
• Please pray for an end to the stigma of HIV and for people to be freed from fear.
• Pray for the work of Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia and others Tearfund partners, for wisdom as they train churches and leaders.
•    For the UK church and us here at  Kerith, that we will be a safe place of love and acceptance

Access to treatment
-    That there will be universal free access to treatment
-     For those who have to walk for hours to get the treatment they need
